Thomas L. Sherfick Drowns In Hindostan Tragedy, Sunday on Fathers Day
Thomas L. Sherfick Drowns In Hindostan Tragedy, Sunday on Fathers Day
Hindostan Fall, a scene of many tragic drownings, claimed another victim Sunday evening, June 20, when Thomas L. Sherfick, age 27 years, drowned in deep water, below the flat rock. . . .
(Note: The article incorrectly places Ed Sherfick in the US Army. He was in the US Air Force, stationed in Japan. The Red Cross did not tell the military or Ed that his brother was dead so that the military would let him come home. Ed did not find out until after his plane flight from Japan to California. He only had one dime on him, and he used it to call his mother collect. Another man came across the ocean with him, and he used the same dime to call his parents. Ed Sherfick took a train from California and did not reach home until the day after his brother's funeral.)
