Name Jessie Vernan TREDWAY Born 12 Jul 1909 Martin County, Indiana, USA Gender Female Died 11 May 1973 Martin County, Indiana, USA Buried Spring Hill Cemetery, Shoals, Martin County, Indiana, USA Notes - From Jessie V. Stiles (The Family of Jonathan Stiles):
Jessie Tredway graduated from Shoals High School in 1929 and attended Lafayette Business College.
Owned Jessie's Flower Center in Shoals in the site of the old Sherfick Music Service company. Another Sherfick later owned the same site as Mary and James Edward Sherfick owned Sherfick's Ceramics and Gifts in late 70's. Jessie also sold her arrangements at her brother, Ray's, grocery store in town.
Died in a horrible one-car wreck on Highway 50 on the Nichols Hill. Her husband had been fishing with Earl Wires and Virgil Wade and called his wife to meet them at Mathias Restaurant. She did and after dinner Jessie started home first. Later Walter passed the accident and didn't realize that it was Jessie as the car was down in a ravine. This happened on the same night as the local high school prom where step granddaughter, Cynthia Sherfick, was attending. The car was brought to Terry's Ford Town, which was located right by the school where the dance was being held.
She was a member of the DAR.
