1875 at time of Kansas State census living in Sheridan, Cherokee, Kansas with wife and 4 children (GW, FM, EE, SR).

1885 Kansas State Census shows that Jacob and Millie were living with 19 yr old son Elmer and 4 yr old daughter Estella. Will have to do more research about Estella. Living in the city of McCune and the county of Crawford.

Jacob received an increase in his military pension on March 13, 1890. Listed in The Atchison Champion, (Atchison, KS) Friday, March 14, 1890; Issue 296; col B.

The Kansas State Census of 1895 listed a daughter, Nellie Casey, 9, living with Jacob and Millie Sherfick in McCune, Crawford Co. I believe this is Louie R. Sherfick and Montgomery Casey's daughter and John M. Sherfick's granddaughter.

1900 census shows Jacob living with his son Edison, his wife Mildred, and also his son's father-in-law in Colorado. Next door is Jacob's other son Farcillan, but the indexers have mistakenly put the family name as Melville.

From 1905 History of Crawford County, Kansas

Four miles west of Monmouth is the city of McCune. The town was laid out in 1879, by Isaac McCune, and is located on the Frisco railroad. The first building erected was a dwelling, by J. Z. Sherfick, and was afterward used as a hotel. I. V. McCune built a store building, which was occupied by J. D. Rogers with a stock of general merchandise. At the time McCune was laid out a postoffice was kept by W. Welch, and was named "Time." This was about half a mile north of the townsite, and was moved into town, and J. F. McCune, appointed postmaster. The name was soon changed to McCune. Miss Mary Ball taught the first school, followed by Daniel Hollinger, who has for several years been growing oranges in Florida. McCune has had a substantial growth, and is now one of the best towns in the county. Churches, schools, newspapers, banks, in short, all classes of business are well represented, and the town is a busy, thriving, prosperous place.

1920 and 1930 Census for son George W. Sherfick lists his father's birth place as PENNSYLVANIA instead of Ohio.

His death year is still unknown, but supposedly on Jul 5. He was alive in the Kansas 1900 census.

      Burial at Wood Lawn Cemetery.
